Garrett's PowerMax upgrade for the VW / Audi 2.0 TSI EA888 Gen3 (the MQB MK7 and MK7.5 Golf generation) comes in two stages. Both go in where the factory IS20 or IS38 turbocharger sits, arrive fully assembled with a calibrated electronic actuator and the fittings they need, and use a twin-scroll stainless steel turbine housing with a Mar-M alloy turbine wheel, both rated to 1,050 °C. Each has a machined port for a turbo speed sensor (sold separately).
Stage 1
Garrett GT2260S: 47 / 60 mm compressor, 50 / 45 mm turbine, journal bearing. Up to 485 HP (362 kW), with 17% more flow than the IS38 of a stock Golf R. Maximum turbo speed 185,000 rpm.
Stage 2
Garrett G25-660: 54 / 67 mm compressor, 54 / 49 mm turbine, ball bearing. Up to 600 HP (447 kW), with 59% more flow than the IS38. Maximum turbo speed 165,000 rpm.
The power figures are what the turbocharger itself can support, from Garrett's compressor maps. What your car makes depends on its supporting parts and the ECU calibration, which is required. Garrett's own test car, an Audi TT 2.0 TFSI, also ran a bigger intercooler, a custom exhaust, lower-compression pistons, a larger fuel system and uprated valve springs.
